Dombivli - Over 10,000 household and over 150 Sarvajanik Mandal idols of Lord Ganesha will be immersed here today on the occasion of Anant Chaturdashi.
Dombivli, fondly called as the second cultural capital of the state, will witness disciplined processions today. The authorities, bound by the High Court directives regarding ban on the use of DJ in the immersion processions, are keenly keeping watch on the Mandals so that HC orders are not violated.
Most of the Ganesha idols will be immersed at Retibandar Khadi in Dombivli and Durgadi Khadi in Kalyan. Besides this, the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has created artificial lakes for immersion of household idols.
The immersion processions are likely to start in the afternoon under the guidance and supervision of the KDMC authorities, police officials, social institutions, etc. The concerned authorities have installed boards and banners at the designated places of immersion to avoid any untoward incident.
