Dombivli - With ever-growing inflation, minimum salaries and hectic lifestyle, social groups such as private sector employees, daily wage workers, labourers, autorickshaw drivers, roadside vendors, etc find it difficult to get a proper meal. Coming forward to provide such people a respite from hunger at a minimum cost, an NGO and a rickshaw union in Dombivli have started providing a full meal at just Rs. 20.

The Pramod Komaskar Smruti Seva Trust and the Lalbawta Rickshaw Union came together to provide a full square meal to workers and labourers. KDMC Mayor Vinita Rane inaugurated this unique initiative on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. The stall providing meal has been set up under a bridge near the railway station in Dombivli East.

The stall will remain open between 12 to 2 pm every day. This noble work has received a special assistance in the memory of Dinesh Motilal Jain.

CPI national committee member and Mumbai secretary Com. Prakash Reddy was present as the chief guest on this occasion. He appreciated the work started for poor sections of the society. Com. Reddy remembered the days when Girni (mill) workers in Mumbai were also provided such a meal through “Annapurna” project.

Com. Balu Komaskar, leader of opposition in KDMC Mandar Halbe, BSP State Secretary Dayanand Kiratkar, Rickshaw Union leader Sanjay Manjrekar, Datta Malekar, and many others were present on this occasion.

People who cannot afford to spend a big part of their income on a meal outside the home can find it quite affordable to get a full square meal at the price of Rs. 20 only.
