Signature campaign for solutions on railway problem held


Dombivli - A signature campaign was launched at the railway station here to draw attention of the railway authorities towards problems being faced by the commuters. Over 6000 commuters signed the petitions. The ‘Upnagariy Railway Pravasi Ekta Sanstha’ and the ‘Lokrajya Sanghtana’ jointly conducted this signature campaign on Tuesday (March 6). Dombivli railway station is known as the highest crowded station in Central Railway zone. There are a number of problems such as less number of escalators, separate ticket queue for women, cleanliness in the station premises, security, WC facilities, etc. The demand for additional special local trains for women, coach for students and senior citizens were also demanded through this campaign. A large number of ‘Upnagariy Railway Pravasi Ekta Sanstha’ and the ‘Lokrajya Sanghtana’ members and commuters took active participation in this campaign.


Strengthen Congress party, activists asked


Dombivli - Bury differences among yourselves to strengthen the Congress Party, appealed All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary B.M. Sandeep to the party workers in a programme organised here at Sarvesh hall on Saturday. The AICC secretary further alleged that the BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not done any constructive work in last four and a half years. The Central Government helped the likes of Vijay Mallya and Nirav Modi to flee the country and Rafael scam has dented Modi government’s claim of non-corrupt government. Congress party’s observers Rajesh Sharma and Rajan Bhosale were also present on the occasion. The party workers were asked to take the ‘Shakti’ App of the party to the common people. Congress group leader in KDMC Nandu Mhatre, corporator Harshada Bhoir, corporator Darshana Shelar, former corporator Navin Singh, Pappu Bhoir, Ravi Patil, Sachin Pote, Kanchan Kulkarni, Dipti Joshi, Santosh Kene, Varsha Gujar, Meena Singh and many other prominent Congress party activists attended the programme.


2200 youths get jobs at Shiv Sena’s employment camp

Badlapur - In the days of growing unemployment, over 2200 youths were selected for jobs in different companies and were given on the spot appointment letters at an employment camp organised by Dattwadi Shiv Sena branch and party corporator Shailesh Wadnere. The camp for unemployed youths was organised at Dnyaneshwar hall in Badlapur East. The youths from Ambernath, Badlapur and Murbad areas were offered jobs in sectors including insurance, logistics, finance, retail, KPO, BPO, airport, banking, etc. MLA Dr. Balaji Kinikar, Badlapur Municipal council chairperson Vijaya Raut, Ambernath Municipal council chairperson Manisha Walekar, Shiv Sena city chief and former municipal council chairman Waman Mhatre, Shiv Sena corporations and many others were present on this occasion.

PANCHAM KALANI IS NEW ULHASNAGAR MAYOR

Ulhasnagar - BJP corporator Pancham Kalani was elected unopposed as the mayor of Ulhasnagar municipal corporation on Friday. Pancham Kalani, wife of young leader Omie Kalani, succeeded in becoming the youngest mayor of Ulhasnagar after Shiv-Sena-supported SAI party rebel nominee Jyoti Bhatija quit the mayoral race. Pancham's father-in-law Pappu Kalani, and mother-in-law Jyoti Kalani also held the post in past. Minister of State and Raigad district guardian minister Ravindra Chavan, Omie Kalani and other BJP strategists made efforts to get Pancham Kalani elected as the mayor.


VIDYADHAR THANEKAR IS NEW EXEC PRESIDENT OF MARATHI GRANTH SANGRAHALAYA

Thane - Vidyadhar Thanekar, a well-known personality in cultural and literary circle of Thane, was unopposed elected as executive president of Thane-based Marathi Granth Sangrahalaya. Thanekar has vowed to modernise the main as well as Naupada branch of the Granth Sangrahalaya and start some innovative schemes to books lovers in the city.

Pranav Desai to represent India in 3rd Asian Para Games in Indonesia


Thane - Pranav Prashant Desai from the city will represent India in the ’Third Asian Para Games’ to be held in Indonesia between October 8 to 16. Pranav become the first athlete from Maharashtra to be selected for this contest. He will participate in 100 meter and 200 meter events in open group. Pranav had earlier won silver medal in the Dubai national championship held in 2017.

Setting an example of active citizenship, Dombivli-based Mandar D. Abhyankar noticed a mistake in a board placed by the concerned authorities at "Thakurli" railway station. Abhyankar brought it to the notice of railway officials who took more than 3 days to rectify this error. Finally, Abhyankar's efforts paid off and commuters got station's real name placed on the board.
